Aqua Net, Lycra, lace, and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strips last legendary venues in the 1980s. A place where sex machine Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and scantily clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the fairy-tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri, and the gang save the strip, and themselves, before it’s too late? Only the music of hit bands Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake, and more hold the answer.

Auditioners are asked to prepare two contrasting songs of at least 32 bars, with one being an 80s style rock piece.  Auditioners will then asked to participate in one or two short cold readings from the script.  An accompanist will be provided, or you may bring a backing track to sing to.

ROLES AVAILABLE:

Actors of all ethnicities and gender identities are encouraged to audition and all roles are available.

Lonny Barnett (male 20s-40s): A dynamic comic tenor with improv skills and strong rock vocals. The sound guy at the Bourbon Bar and self proclaimed “sound god”, he’s the narrator/conjurer of the show who has instant stage presence and charisma to spare. Funny, unabashed, and cheeky. (Vocal range: D3-D5)

Dennis Dupree (male 30s-60s): Classic stoner type guy who runs the Bourbon Room club. Torn about whether he should sell the club to Hertz, a German businessman. Very strong comedic timing. A laid back, easy going dude real dude. Bari-tenor rock vocals. (Vocal range: D3-G4)

Justice Charlier (female 30s-50s): Strong presence, an easy sensuality about her, once a performer, she now operates a strip club where Sherrie winds up working.  Takes on the maternal role for the girls that work for her.  Strong, soulful vocals and belt needed.  (Vocal Range: G3 - Db5)

Drew Boley (male 20s-30s): An appealing, good-guy rocker with great, easy comedic timing, a boyish charm, vulnerability and a very strong rock tenor voice.  Drew works at the legendary Bourbon Room hoping and waiting for his dreams to come true.  He finds an instant attraction to Sherrie, the beautiful new arrival from the Midwest, who encourages him to go after his dreams. (Vocal Range: Bb3 - D5, with some higher "screams")

Sherrie Christian (female 18-30):  A strong rock belter up to D# with strong low notes, great comedic timing and good movement ability. She is straight off the bus from Kansas and new to the Sunset Strip to pursue her passion and dreams of becoming an actress. Unsuspecting and trusting in others even as she finds herself taking a stripper job to get by.

Regina (female 20s-30s): A fun, hippie type, earthy girl who fights against the attempted take over of the Strip. Strong comedic timing, and belt vocals. (Vocal range: A3-Eb5)

Hertz Klinemann (male 40s-60s): An attractive older German male.  Uptight, cold, intimidating businessman trying to buy up the Strip to develop it.  The bad guy of the piece.  Strong co,edic timing and baritone vocals.  (Vocal Range: F3 - G#4)

Franz Klinemann (male 20s-30s): Hertz's son, young German male.  Works for his father but not by choice.  Pressured and intimidated by his father.  Shy, gentle with a big heart.  Strong vocals and comedic timing.  (Vocal Range: Db3 - E5)

Stacee Jaxx (male 25-40s): A sexy rock star.  Decided to leave his successful hair/metal-rock band to try it solo.  Self important, confident, intriguing in all the wrong ways, the ultimate bad boy; he is all about sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll.  Great strong comedic timing and rock tenor voice. (Vocal Range: C3 - Eb5)

Ensemble (male & female): Several strong singers and dancers who will also play some character roles.
