The classic story tells of Belle, a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is a really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed to his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.
The story follows the fast talking salesman Harold Hill as he cons the people of River City, IA into buying instruments and uniforms for a boys' band he vows to organize. The catch? He doesn't know a trombone from a treble clef. His plans to skip town with the cash are foiled when he falls for Marion, whose belief in Harold's powers might just help him succeed in spite of himself.
