Dear Friend of Tacoma Little Theatre:
100 YEARS! I still can’t believe it. Each time that I hear that number it makes me proud to live in a community that has supported Tacoma Little Theatre for a full century. 100 years ago we started with no home, performing in whatever space we could find. You, as our generous community, have been with us as we purchased our current auditorium in 1940, the expansion that created our lobby in 1956, and two years ago when we acquired the building next door that has become “Stage Right”, which houses our technical operations. Through these 100 years, you have experienced high quality performing arts right here in your backyard. 100 years is a long journey, and it’s been an honor to have you with us through all the laughter, tears, and challenges.

TLT was honored this year by the City of Tacoma’s AMOCAT award which recognizes organizations that positively impact the community with their passion, innovation, and commitment to the arts. Under the guidance of our staff and Board of Directors, TLT is already planning on what the next century will bring. Many of you have seen the small changes that have happened over the last six seasons such as air conditioning, parking for Season Ticket holders, new house and stage lighting, and the start of our “Grab a Seat” campaign. We take your suggestions very seriously, so please always let us know what you’re enjoying, and what we could improve upon.

TLT provides the South Puget Sound region with an education program serving youth and adults in the community year-round, helping them reach their creative potential. During the 2017/18 season attendance for this program increased by 250% from previous years. Last year 37 students received full or partial scholarships. This represents an increase of 33% due to student need. You embraced this need and increased donations to give the experience of theatre to students who otherwise financially, would not be able to participate. These scholarships change lives and you are helping to create the future performers who will grace stages in Pierce county and beyond.

We offer a range of donation options that are listed at the bottom of this letter. You can even pledge your donation amount over a monthly or quarterly payment schedule. Fools Play is excited to be back at Tacoma Little Theatre for a fourth consecutive season! Tacoma’s monthly recurring Improv show. Tickets only $10. This Tacoma staple is a must-see.
The cast of Fools Play has two rules: Have Fun and Be Fearless. They take those rules and perform two longform improvised stories full of characters, drama, and humor. For 20-40 minutes, during each story, inspired by each other and you, we get to inhabit the lives of characters in worlds familiar or strange for an epic journey or an intimate glimpse. Entirely improvised, we never know what will happen, but we do know we love discovering these stories.
No two stories are ever the same and infinite new stories are just waiting to be found.
Each show will be approximately one and a half hour long including a mid-show intermission. Concessions, including alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase from Tacoma Little Theatre.
Material is unscripted and uncensored. Recommended for mature-minded audiences.
LILY OELLERICH, PRODUCTION MANAGER
Lily is excited to be joining TLT as its new Production Manager. A Stage Manager and Stagehand from Tacoma, they have been enjoying theatrical work in the area for the past 10 years. They hold a BFA in Theatre Design and Tech from Pacific Lutheran University. Their past credits include A Doll’s House, Part 2 (SM), The Last Days of Judas Iscariot (ASM) and The Thanksgiving Play (Production Manager).
NICK FITZGERALD, EDUCATION DIRECTOR
Nick brings over a decade of experience in the world of performing arts and education. With a passion for storytelling and nurturing creative expression, Nick has been a teaching artist with many established theaters in the South Sound while also maintaining his position as a substitute teacher in the Auburn School District. He has seamlessly transitioned between various roles within community theatres since graduating with a bachelors degree in Theatre Arts from Washington State University.
He has been a part of the South Sound theater community in many capacities. As an actor, he has been seen on the stage in such performances as Significant Other (TLT), Bent (Changing Scene), Proof (Dukesbay), A Chorus Line (TLT), and Newsies (TMP). As a director, he has guided such shows as Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, The Addams Family: Young at Part and Freaky Friday the Musical for TLT, The Laramie Project: Ten Years Later with The Changing Scene, Scrooge the Musical for Auburn Community Players along with countless educational camp shows. His theatrical range has even brought him experience in Costuming, Choreography and Stage Management as well.
Nick is truly honored and humbled to be given this opportunity to join the great staff of Tacoma Little Theatre. He is most excited to continue growing the education of theatre for young people in Tacoma and the surrounding areas.
